Odiot Company has been founded in 1690.
In 1809, the silversmith Jean-Baptiste-Claude Odiot becomes the emperor Napoléon Bonaparte’s supplier.
He got retired in 1823 and his son Charles-Nicolas took over the firm. He becomes in turn the king Louis-Philippe and the d’Orléans family’s supplier.
Different marks :
- 1865-1894 : Jean-Baptiste-Gustave Odiot runs the company installed at 72 rue Basse-du-Rempart. He used his mark between the 31st of October of 1865 and the 14th of April 1894. It is composed of « O » and the oil lamp.
- 1894-1906 : The company is runed by Gustave Odiot, Emile Prévost and Paul Edouard Récipon. The mark still has the antic oil lamp but « O » is replaced by « PRCie ».
- 1906-1956 : Boulenger takes over Odiot, the mark is made of « O », the antic lamp and « OBSr ».
Since 1956 the mark is the same as the very first one ; « O » and the antic lamp.
